There is silence for a moment, from the other side of the door. Reinhardt wants to pound on it. He wants to call out for Alexei. To demand that he just be let in. But Reinhardt isn't going to make demands like that. It's not his house. He can't force his way in, even if he knows he could likely knock that door off it's hinges if he wanted. So he waits. He waits, one hand still on the door.

He knows he's being unfair. But Alexei pulling rank would be the only way he would leave. Unless a colony-wide catastrophe were to suddenly happen, he was staying right there. It makes him happy to hear that his love really wouldn't look him in the face and bark at him to leave. It also tells him what he wants to know. If Alexei really wanted him gone, he would give that order.

"Can't? I still don't really understand, but I'm not leaving. So, I guess I'm going to get comfortable right here." There's a sound of heavy boots on that porch and then the even heavier plopping thump of him plopping down his duffel and then planting his rear end on the top step.

"It looks like it's going to be a warm enough weekend. Though I would like it if you'd let the children out. I've missed them. Don't worry. I'll be right here, with my back to the door. You have my promise I won't look. I won't try to use this to get in. I just want to see die kinder. You have my word of honor as a knight. That I'll stay right here and when you need something, anything, even if it's just milk or coffee or whatever from town, you can ask me. I'll get it for you. But I'm staying here."
